Default Microdrives and Mac's

I m looking into going the 1 gig MD route with our 7i, but when looking at them no one mentions a Mac OS, just windows. Will a MD work on a Mac (I'm sure it will, but want to be sure) Also, will the software needed for the MD conflict with the Minolta 7i software?, the printing quality is terrible with out the 7i software. Also, do I need the PC adapter, or can I transfer direct from the camera to my Mac through the 7i software?, meaning I would only need just the drive.

there should be no issues with the md/mac joining. if it is a current mac supporting firewire i would get a lexar reader at $50 from B&H. the md is a standard ata interface the reader will do the rest. all you said should be spot on and no problem

Features & Specifications
IEEE-1394 compliant
FireWire connection for true plug-and-play
High-speed transfer rate: 100, 200, and 400 Mbps
Support Microsoft Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, and Mac OS 9.0 or later
Accepts Type I/II CompactFlash™
copied from the lexar site for their reader

their reader is the identical unit to the unity unit. aka same manufacture. the lexar just looks cooler very mac like

I would go with sjms suggestion for the MD. You dont want to go through the camera USB route since you'll need an AC adpater for sure... and you wouldn't like it's USB dowload speed either for the whole 1G.
