I am thinking about purchasing a Minolta Dimage Z3. I have read that it has a 7 second flash recycling time. What does that mean? Does it mean that after I take a picture with the flash that I will have to wait 7 seconds before the flash is ready for the next shot??? If that's true -- isn't that a long time? Has anyone had any experience with the Z3?

I think the 7 seconds is when the flash fully discharges. I've tested my flash just now. In close shots, the flash is ready to fire right away. In shots at about 4 meters, times are about 4 seconds. Further, times are about 5 seconds. These are indoor shots.

How do you like the Dimage Z3? I have used point and shoot cameras in the past along with my sister's 35 mm where I just had to focus. Is there enough information in the owner's manual so that if I don't like the picture with the camera set on automatic I'll be able to manually set the camera (fstop, iso, aperature, etc.)? I'm a newby to manually setting a camera.

I have the Z3, and I was a complete newbie on manual settings. However, after reading through the manual, asking people for advice, and a bit of experimentation, I already have a substantial understanding of it.

Doesn't make me a pro yet, but if you're willing to learn, you get so much more control over your image with manual settings.
