Dear All,

I have an S414 and I want to install an UV filter on it. Due to the odd size of the lens (35.5mm) I have bought a 35.5-37mm stepdown ring and an 37mm UV filter. The result is quite poor: there is a vignetting at wide-angle since the edge of the filters can be seen at the corners.

Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? Is there anybody who uses filters on an S414?

I use the same setup as you, but it works fine for me. Maybe your stepup ring is longer. I'm using Hama stepup and HOYA UV-filter.

Thanks for the information. Maybe I will test it with another filter.

You can get the correct size filter from www.camerafilters.com. I have a uv filter on my S414 at all times and it works fine. I also purchased a stepup ring and a polarizing filter. I get vignetting at extreme wide angle. I would also like to get a 36.5 mm lens shade. Camerafilters.com lists one but it was out of stock the last time I checked.
