Default shots in poor night conditions with the 7i

I need a high range camera that is versatile from studio through to pix at events. My biggest concern is that I need to use the camera in covering events (ie dark dingy, smokey clubs ) I was wondering if anyone has used it (or the 7?) in these condiotions and what the results were.
