Hello all,

I am considering to buy a Minolta Z1 in Canada. Prices in the US are often as low as USD 240.-.

What is the best price you have seen in Canada on this? Where? Or am I better off ordering from the US?

Thanks for any thoughts,

Miklos

costo has a decent package but its a mind blowing $499, but includes recharger, rechargable batteries and minolta bag

www.tigerdirect.ca has new ones and refurbs. the refurbs are decent at $342.99, and u can handle them instore in markham tigerdirects storefront at hwy7 and woodbine.

you are probably right. the last time i was there was 2 months ago.

i am sure it still includes the bundle as well.

at bestbuy, you can get the z2 for $599

and i think the z3 is availble at a few aden locations downtown for $650

With the Cdn. $ pushing 0.80 U.S. you are probably better off to buy it in the U.S. and pay the exchange. Check the warranty.
Unfortunately, most of the cameras in Canada are still pegged at the high exchange.

Agreed. You can get much better deals when shopping on the net.

But until you make that first good purchase, many of us are still leary of these phantom stores, though reading other people's experiences does bolster some confidence.

Well, if you're still looking...........

I was at Costco just now and looked at the Dimage Z1. It's now 399 $ with case, batteries and charger.

SD cards have come down quite a bit. My 110$ 512 MB SD card is now only 80 $. The Ultra card is 99$.

I actually like the feel of the Z1 better than the Z3. The buttons seemed better placed for a larger hand. The Z3 seems to be designed for a smaller hand.

I had always assumed that the internet was cheaper but when shopping for a Z2 I found that small camera shops can be a cheaper alternative. I was able to negotiate a price 10% lower than any of the Canadian internet sites and a 60 day return policy as well as large discounts on accessories. In Toronto check out the shops in the Yonge and Dundas area.
