Z1 - Dead Pixels
Just looked (again) at my Christmas pictures that I shot with my new Dimage Z1, and I noticed a disturbing phenomenon. Apparently the camera has numerous dead pixels. Is this a common phenomenon? Any other Z1 owners notice this?

These show up as totally black pixels, and are most noticeable in light colored areas, including people's faces! It seems to have a couple dozen of these, concentrated along two vertical lines -- one along the center line of the image, and another about 1/3 of the way over to the right.

So, the obvious question is, do I send the camera back over this? (I think so). And if so, do I ask for a repair, and exchange of the same model, or get my money back and get another camera?

I'm otherwise moderately happy with the Z1. My only other complaint is its inability to focus in low light situations, including in a room that's lit by several incandescent lights and seems bright enough for the folks gathered. But I haven't noticed the rattling lens problem, and I love the speed and 10x zoom.

Dead pixels
I would return that ASAP for a new one. Dead pixels are unacceptable in a digital camera. Everyone counts.
That is my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. Called Minolta, and they agreed that it's a defective camera. Sent it back to the vendor today. I mostly put this message in this forum because I was wondering - have any other Z1 owners seen this problem?
