Kudos to Minolta 3 day trun around
I bought a Diamge 7i back in March. That was based upon Steve's review and the comments I read in this Forum. I thank all of you for those comments. I ran into a glitch or two. First I couldn't turn the camera off. The switch turned, but camera remained on. After several minutes I finally took out the batteries. Then I began to have trouble turning the camera on. Kept getting a Err message and it would shut off. If I turned it on to viewing, then to record it would work. In any event I scoured the forum for suggests, tried everything I found, and then found the message that suggested a call to Minolta. Called and they said to ship it back.
They returned the camera to me with a three day turn around. It's working just fine. The only complaint I have is you have to call for a tracking number (then why ask for my email address) and the support staff's info is about a day behind. When I called Monday I was told that a tech had recieved it. When I called Tues. I was told the repair had been completed Monday but it had not been shipped. Wensday I was told it had been packed but not shipped. When I called this morning I was told it had shipped yesterday and got a tracking number. By the time I checked the tracking number this am it was being delivered. So if your calling them, as long as they report progress, assume that it's going faster.
When I recieved the written notice that it could be 3 to 4 weeks for the repair, I let it be known that if it was that long I would be posting my frustrations. Figured that since they did so good, I should post that as well.
Thank you all for posting comments and suggestions. It really helped someone who knew nothing purchase a very good camera that I'm very happy with. And one that is backed so well by the manufacturer.
