Default HELP!! FLASH PROBLEM

hey! i am new here. i need help. i just bought a Dimage 7i lately. i still cant figure out how to take some shots during night time / darker enviroment like concert hall on the streets or something similiar. i tried once taking pics during my friend's graduation, all the pics screwed up they look "shaky" /blur because i used built it flash (the one with plus and minus thing). so i tried pop up flash the people in the pics look so "white" , and the back ground is sooo dark.

whenever i use pop up flash during night time. The flash is extremely bright, the pics became over exposed (i think that's what u called). if i use built in flash... the pics become so "shaky/ blur . this is sooo sad! cuz i screwed up my friend's graduation!!

what flash setting did you use? ADI, pre-flash TTL, or manual

how close were the people overexposed to you when you shot the image? and please tell me they weren't wearing white.

during the graduation ceramony were you shooting more than 15 feet away with the built in flash?

what is your previous experience using the built in flash on the camera?

did you read the manual?

... About the only time when the pictures become blurry with flash is when you have the camera set on fill-flash. ie is the triangle on the LCD panel under the portrait icon with a star next to it!

In this mode the camera will try to maintain an overall balance exposure of both ambient light and flash: The ambient light is too dark hence the bluriness since the shutter speed is too slow, and then the flash too bright... Press the big P for now next to the shutter to return to the Program mode until you're more familiar with the camera. :P
