Default Minolta Dimage 5 & Windows 2000 Pro Problems

Hi, I have had my Dimage 5 for a while now and I originally used Windows 98SE drivers. I have upgraded to Windows 2000 Pro and the camera was communicating with the desktop fine until one day I plugged in the camera and the removable drive showed up in My Computer but when I tried to access it it just hung. In the Device Manager under USb devices was "USB Mass Storage Device" and under Storage Volumes was "Generic Volume". The "Minolta USB Storage Device" never shows up anymore. I have seen on Microsoft's support site that if a USB device is removed suddenly without first stopping and one is using a 2.0 root hub, then the usb device may no longer be seen. They have no fix to this bug. I would like to know if anyone has encountered this problem and if so, how they fixed it.

Cheers, Lisa :?:

lisa

most of us use readers instead of the camera itself. the transfer rate is quicker and less apt for curruption and or failure. it also cuts down on battery consumption. my cable never came out of the plastic bag much less the box

Default SanDisk Reader Problem

I use a sandisk card reader for my Dimage 5. We just upgraded to windows XP pro which is a take off from 2000 and I am having hang up problems with it. Not sure if this is related or not??? Anyone else with similar problems?

I use 2 readers (an old Sandisk and a recent PNY) , both have no problem getting hot pluged/unpluged in win98SE, or in winXP-Pro systems

Default Any Card Reader Preferences?

Hello again,

I have been on the phone with Minolta Escalation support for my problem and they didn't even try to sort out the issue after I told them of my extensive troubleshooting, they just said "card reader". So, can anyone recommend a card reader that is 1) quick, 2) reliable, and 3) if USB, won't have issues?

Your suggestions will be helpful.

Cheers, Lisa
