Default Beach trip with minolta s414

HI all!

I'm about to go to the beach and I'm afraid to take my new minolta.
I've heard that salt and sand can really damage digicams. What precautions can I take? Can just the salty ocean breezes damage the camera. I really love this camera and would love some shots from this vacation. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Keep it covered when not in use, clean it every night. Stay away from the ocean spray.

tolpuppy,

The S414 should be pretty durable. I've had a S404 (the previous model and almost identical) for about a year and dropped it on a lava rock, taken it to the beaches in Hawaii many times (of course never in the water and/or sand).

The salt air here in Hawaii doesn't seem to affect it and after some 9000+ pictures it doesn't seem as if it will break down. (Of course, with my luck it'll probably stop working tomorrow.) Anyhow, just use good common sense and don't abuse it.
