Default Why is the A1 cheaper than the 7Hi in the UK

I have noticed that suddenly UK internet prices have dropped for the Dimage A1 in the uk and it is now cheaper than the 7Hi. For example at www.acecameras.co.uk it is 620 against the 7Hi at 710. Is this just a purchasing /marketting thing, or is the A1 regarded as a lesser camera? I would be surprised if the latter were to be true. Or is the price drop caused by the release of the cheapish Canon DSLR?
I am looking for a replacement for my Sony 717 which has been back to Sony twice in one year. Otherwise I love it. The Minolta 7 series always get good reviews, but they rarely appear in the results of DPOTD statistics. Any views?
thanks

I think its because in general the price of digital cameras is dropping and Minolta are trying to compete with other manufactures lower priced models.

Its good for us all in the long run. :P

Forgot to mention Ken that Costco in the UK are selling the Minolta 7Hi for around 680 and you get their extended warranty.

I purchased a Minolta 7i last year again from Costco and I thought it was a very good camera my only problem was the lack of zoom. Since I take aviation images I need something with more power.
