Default Loose 7i rubber eye piece?

There was a post a long while back about what kind of cement to use to keep the rubber eye piece from falling off.

I'd appreciate a knowledgeable reply - don't want to ruin anything by using the wrong stuff.

If it's still under guarantee, yank this piece off... and Minolta will replace it with a better harder rubber one free of charge! (that's how I glued mine back)

... They are not going to advertise this are they?

My rubber eyecup felt off during a vacation trip (ie it was lost) and Minolta replaced it with even a better one when I sent the camera in to the Ramsey service center when it was still under warranty (ie 1 year from the date of purchase). 8)

Default Rubber eyepiece

Isn't it expensive/scary to send the camera in? Heard you don't necessarily get your own back? (Or is that just a rumour?)

You have to fill-in a form (along with a copy of the camera's invoice) with the serial# of the camera... They'll send back the same camera with the same serial# along with what was performed on it :P

Any Co. that practices this business should be in chapter 11 !!!

BTW the hand marked in ink serial # on my 10D along with several of friends bodies are totally rubbed off!

I got this rubber eyepiece from an online astronomy site. It really improves visibility in bright light. Once you get it glued back on this will also keep it in place. I prefer Velcro glue for that sort of thing but it isnít easy to find. Shoe Goo would work and also double the life of your running shoes.

I'll cal the closest authorised repair and take it from there. Wish one could buy the replacement eye piece and glue and do it themselves?
