Default Flash for Dimage 7

I am looking for a flash from my Dimage 7. I would rather not spend the money for the Minolta 3600 HS flash.

I tried the Vivitar 730AF flash - but it is not compatible. The flash fires, but the shots are very over exposed. I called Minolta and they said that the Vivitar flash does support the Dimage 7.

Does anyone know of some compatible flash units for the Dimage 7?

So far only Metz makes a module for it's flashes to work with the Dimage cameras. Not the solution you're looking for as the module is almost as expensive as the Vivitar flash.

What you might try is a flash that has ordinary thyristor, non-TTL mode. It works so well on my Metz potato smasher I'm not even sure I want to spend the money on the dedicated cord. Just make sure you don't get something like one of the old Vivitars with high sync voltage. AFAIK there is no cheap way to get TTL on an add on flash yet.
