Default D7i Shutter speed

I know I'm supposed to be able to get up to 1/4000 sec. shutter speed,
only thing I can't figure out, is how to get there. No matter what mode
I'm in I can only get up to 1/2000 sec. How do I get there?

I believe it's only available in Program (P), and not in S, A, or M mode. Try to program-shift with the wheel...

Default How to get 1/4000 shutter

I managed to get 1/4000 on a very sunny day by using A mode. I set the f-stop to 3.5 and aimed at a bright part of the sky, and the camera went to 1/4000. On a slightly darker area of sky, the shutter dropped to 1/2000.

You can only get the 1/4000 in P or A mode, and P mode will change to a smaller f-stop first, so you are unlikely to see that speed in P mode.

Thanks guy's, I'll try again.
I think I tried it in P mode. I was trying to to take a picture of a flower with
the sun in the background and couldn't get a fast enough shutter speed to keep it from
washing out.
