Bought USA. Make Z10. Made in Korea. Only problem is barrel distortion at widest angle. Straight lines are not longer straight but skewed.

Bought mine yesterday and it's made in Korea. I am sure the labor is cheaper and that is the main reason for moving production. It's the age of a "global" workforce.

One thing I am curious about is the fact that the Z2 is now a discontinued model. Anyone have any idea why it was discontinued after only a year on the market? Aside from that , I am very happy with the camera so far and I hope it lasts for several years ....

John

Forgot to mention I bought the Z2

My guess... the z3 and z5 thats why. Besides the z1 and z2 have been replaced with what I regard as an inferior z10 (No Hotshoe Flash, 8x Zoom), I haven 'seen' the z20 yet, but if the z10 is anythng to go on I'd bet the z20 is just as big a joke!

Dimage Z1, bought in Vancouver made in Japan. I once had the lens go crazy one while retracting and sort of "stop" and then freeze the whole cam up... took out batteries and reset itself somehow. Only other problem is the cam turns off when you set it down on a table a bit harder than normal, or something of the such. Solution: don't do that :P
