Default Lexar 512mb CompactFlash - 7Hi - Will it work?

I have a Lexar 512mb CompactFlash card.

I'm thinking about getting a new Minolta 7Hi camera. I've read in the forums here that some CF cards won't work in the new 7Hi.

Has anyone used a Lexar 512mb CompactFlash card in Minolta's new 7Hi?

I did find the following in the 7Hi FAQ section of the Minolta website:

Question: What CF Cards are compatible with the DiMAGE 7Hi?
Answer: Presently, only Sandisk and LEXARMedia cards have been fully tested.
Some of the posts about CF cards not working are making me a little bit jumpy. I'd like to make sure the Lexar 512 will work. Thanks...

I will be very supprise if it doesn't work with the Minolta 7HI, I expect all CF cards, regardless of brand will work with this camera...

yes, but why spend the money when the ridata 512MB performs as well for about $100US less each.

i have 2 of them.

the reason for that is those are the 2 companies that minolta contracts to supply the initial cards included in the box. those are guarenteed to work.

I already have the card.

I'd just like to make sure it will work in the 7Hi before I buy one.

oops! sorry about that. it was stupid of me. reading is fun for mentals and i didn't read that very well did i?

you will enjoy the 7Hi though. youl get about 101 images out of the 512 at the extra fine level now. about 197 on fine. which is weird because on my 7i i only got 190. wow i got 6 more pictures for free with my thousand dollar upgrade.

Sounds like you have both a 7i and a 7Hi?

Do you ever use Raw mode?

smjs

The number of pictures varies with the picture content, unless you shoot exactly the same pictures on both cameras!

Indoor studio pictures will have a much smaller file size than outdoor nature shots with leafy background (ie I went over 600 FINE pictures sometime with the microdrive in the studio ...)

just making a observation. i put the identical blank 512MB in my 7i and it says 190 in the 7Hi it now says 197. i am aware of the differentials in actual shooting sizes.(your mileage may vary due to atmospheric conditions and shooting technique)

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

I received the camera yesterday, and the Lexar 512mb card does work fine. I get the same 101 and 198 count that sjms mentioned.
