Default Movie mode for Dimage 7i

Hi.. i'm a newbie here as well as new to digital photography.

i captured the movie (.mov) with my D7i and for 1 minute, the size of the movie is about 11MB which is impossible to email to friends..
how do I convert to smaller movie files like the mpeg-4..?
any links to the useful site to do this..?

chunky arent they?

quicktime 6 pro will export the mov to mpeg4. its to cost of the ugrade $30. it also does a lot of other little things too like rotating a movie that you shot in vertical. it takes a little getting used to if you dont think apple.

There is a shareware program called TMPEGenc (http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html)that, along with the plug-in 'QTreader.vfp' (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...s/tmpgenc.html)will make mpegs out of your .mov file.
Works flawlessly for me. Just make sure to set the frame rate to 15fps

nevland:
Using Tmpgenc you can get >50% file reduction by using Settings:

Video:
Mpeg-1
320X240
4:3 NTSC
15fps
Constant bitrate 1150

Audio:
Mpeg-1 LayerII
44100 HZ
Mono
32kbs

You will find that the video and the audio are still very good in the Mpeg version. You can also set the Constant bitrate to 650kbs ( a >75% file reduction) with still great pix quality on the computer monitor.

Experiment with the settings. With the 650kbs setting you will reduce that 11MB file to <3MB!
