Default Compatability Issues with compactflash cards & the Dimag

I Just bought a Dimage 7i . Using the "Lexar" 16mb card that comes with it works just fine. (Not near enough space though). However when inserting a "Ditital Media (SimpleTech) 256mb" the camera would not accept it. Is this normal or not? I have tried 2 different 16mb compact Flash cards and they work fine. One is a canon that came with my "PowerShot S30" and the other came with the Dimage 7i. Both 256mb cards are "SimpleTech" 256mb cards and don't work. Are all cards not compatable with each camera or is there something wrong with my camera? If cards are not compatable with all camers, what am I looking for in the way of compatability? Also note that I erased all media on the cards but the 256mb cards would not allow themselves to be reformatted on the Dimage, only on the canon. Any advice??? Thanks,

that seems to be a known issue with simpletech. it seems to be just about the only current model card that has an issue with the 7 series. it is not a camera issue. it is a card issue.

I've a Simpletech 256Mb (<1yr old), and it works fine with the D7 and the CP990... Sometime its QA issue (or date code or batch issue). May be another card will work or your's is out of specs/defective!

Also do you have another digital camera? I've formated mine on the CP990 and now have both a 100Nikon and a 101MLT14 under the DCIM directory!!!

Actually - I guess every camera has it's own: I have the D7i and Minolta S404 -- the 404 creates directory MLT12 when I shoot, just in case I couldn't tell the 5MP D7 images from the 4MP ones... pretty cool actually.

Default The magic of DCF

It's even cooler when one downloaded to a MindStor or through a PhotoSmart printer... The entire flash content is put under a time and dated directory so there's no danger of ovewriding one another, and also make it real simple for bookeeping actually !!!
