Hi Everyone,

You may have recalled me asking a couple of weeks ago about a good filter setup for A1. Well, I was taking a road trip to California so I decided to buy the 49mm Minolta Skylight filter (to protect the lens) and the 49mm Circular Polarizer. I bought them both from B&H (19.99+43.99). Here's my short report:

The 49mm Minolta Skylight performed very well. As long as you have any mode except M, the white balance won't be affected by the pink tint of the filter. And if you shoot in RAW then you don't have to worry about. There is absolutely no vignetting at all ranges.

The 49mm Circular Polarizer also worked really well. It has an outer diameter of about 55mm, so you can't use the original lens shade or lens cap. This filter was specifically designed for a wide lens. There is absolutely no vignetting. This is my first time using a polarizer so I can't really comment about how good the polarizing effect is, but I assume that all circular polarizers have the same effect. I don't think minolta makes a 49mm Linear Polarizer- I would have bought it if I could've foundone.

Here are some pics using the filter. The first one (life-guard station) is with the Skylight filter and the second (morro bay rock)is with the CP. bon appetite
