I just found this text file on my drive but it's a little incomplete:

-------------------------------------

3 is country of manufacture
2 is the month and it stands for February, 3 would be March, 4 April, etc
4 is the year manufactured
xxxxx the serial number

-------------------------------------

I forget where I got that... it was only about a week ago. I've searched Google and all the forums but I can't find it.

My serial number is 8 digits. The month could be two digits so that doesn't sound right. I can see on the bottom of my Z10 that it's made in Korea.
