Default Phil -7i HIGHLY Recomended

Phil's review is finally up. I hope to buy this camera soon. I'm excited by the low light test. I have the Olympus E 10 and the low light focus is terrible. I am also looking forward to the 7x lens. After Phil's review at DPreview.com, this camera looks like a buy. I will also be looking at the Nikon 5700. 'Okefenokee

Three good report out of three ...with the final Triad sure sounds sweet !!!

Why are you even looking at the 5700. It's priced more even before the required accessories, and have less features ...

Not to answer for him, but I was considering the 5700 for the longer reach. The early images look really good, but I just did not want to wait for Nikon. Experience has shown you can wait a very long time for them to start shipping, and them for them to ship enough volume to satisfy demand.

Well if my money becomes available soon... I will snap up a 7i. The feedback I'm reading from 7i owners tells me ,I will be satisfied with this camera. The remote flash is also something I want. Anyone enjoying this new feature?

While I don't have this feature on the D7. I did enjoy the wireless flash feature tremendously with my 9xi film camera. Actually Minolta was first with this feature with their Maxxum/Dynax 7xi in the 80's until the competition start catching up.

It has four digitally encoded channels so up to 4 users can shoot simultanously without affecting one another unlike a slave sensor. It'll control multiple flashes, and also with different ratio. The flash AF IR illuminator actually pulse on the flash to signal when they are recycled/ready or for exposure confirmation... Really neat !!!

(BTW on the 5 series the also have a modeling light features by cycling the flash quickly in low-power)

Thanks for giving us this news.

I went over and had a look at the review.
I was disturbed by what was called red-channel noise. In the picture comparisons it was actually visible in blue sky and in shadows.

If I had enough money, I would certainly have bought a Dimage 7i by now. This observation about red channel noise gave me pause.

I checked out some pictures onlne from the Nikon 5700 beta and the Sony F707 for comparison. Yes. Red-channel in blue skies is visible in those photos, too.

Is this a common fault with 5-mpx cameras?

Anteater

Stop worrying about specs, and noises... Go and enjoy the pictures like theses D7 owners or theses photo contests.
