Default Dimage S404 (U.K.)

HELP!!!
Where can I get a Minolta Dimage S404 in the U.K? Steve says it is not really discontinued but it seems we in U.K. are to get no more, the Yanks seem to be getting them all!! Minolta U.K. say no more to be produced! (What , for the U.K. market!?!?)

Something strange is afoot with Minolta's marketing strategy. Im in Australia and the S404 was not even released here (and wont be as far as I know). If this camera is all its cracked up to be and at a price which is excellent value (at least in the USA anyway) then why hold it back from markets like the UK and Australia?

Im wondering if this camera was just TOO good and TOO cheap that it actually put the rest of Minolta's range to shame and hence is damaging sales of the rest of their digital cameras? Hmmmmmm.

Cheers,

Graham Jupp

Default S304 & S404 Update

According to Minolta UK, The S304 was discontinued in May 2002, and the S404 has just about finished its run on the production line. Most of the stock of the S404 has been said snatched up by the US. Like the previous posting why have they done this.
Consider this,
The Dimage E series digicams have been on the market a damn sight longer than the S series with a lower spec, so why discontinue the S series with a superior spec. Why not discontinue the E series and use the S series as the entry level cameras. They would have wiped out the competition in a stroke!
I bet it cost Minolta alot to do so, what with Development costs tooling etc etc
only to run a production of the camera for just a few months. I know technology in this area of photography moves at a fast pace, but not at Warp 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!
