Here's the page for flash cards. Read the top portion very carefully, then scroll down to the pale yellow section for the 7i:

The Simpletech (512/1G for $98/195) work with my D7, and as long as you don't shoot in raw (like most people), you wouldn't notice any speed differences: http://www.stevesforums.com/phpBB2/v...?p=36007#36007

Sjms also has a post there for a link to a faster device... 8) 8) 8)

You might also consider the 1 G byte microdrives if you can get the right prices for them. These microdrives are very strudy and shouldn't stop working unless you decide to use them like a frisby. The biggest drawback seems to be that they require more power than the cards.

i would agree with that if it wasn't for the fact you can now pick up a 1GB lexar 32x WA card for $272 that you can use as a frisbee and carries a lifetime Warranty. we're talking $50 more for considerable piece of mind.
i stress this card due to the fact that if you move up to something more serious at least the xfr performance level will match a higher end camera like a eos 10D or higher.

there are other deals around at lower cost too

It's actually $73 (the microdrive is $199 now)

But you're right... theses capacities are now commodities. I think it'll get more interesting @ the 4G price level or higher... The Pretec for example are in the thousands $$$.

I just got my 7Hi yesterday evening and the 16MB CF that came with it is way too small, so I bought a IBM Microdrive 1GB today and it came with the PCMCIA adapter for SGD$365 nett.

Now at least the frame counter (3 digits) does not looks that depressing ops:

But the driver for that pcmcia is only available for Win 95/98 :x Not sure if it still works when installing on Win2000 and Win ME ?

You don't need to load any driver! The OS will find it as a standard IDE/Atapi hardisk device through the PC- card adapter... 8)
