Just got the camera on Wednesday and it's broke already!!:(

While connecting to the Pc the camera's screen said Pc MODE, but nothing else. I could not turn the camera off at all. After disconnecting the USB the screen said the same info. The only way to turn the camera off was to take out the batteries!:?

Bristol Camera (only £289) are going to send a replacement out soon.

Sorry to hear you're not having much luck with your new camera - I bet it was a real pain in the bum. :(

The problem never happened here. It should say PC Mode only when the USB cable is plugged in but then reverts to whatever setting the dial is on when the USB cable is taken out.

thanks Stez

Can you tell me in what order etc do you conect camera usb etc, and whether you turn camera on before or after usb is conected.

Without looking at the manual, I leave the computer on, plug in the camera, then switch on the camera. Disconnecting - I usually unplug the camera from the USB cable even whilst the camera is on (but ensuring the memory card is not being accessed at this point).

This is a somewhat different procedure than the manual says (plug in USB into PC, then Camera, switch PC and camera on.... when done, select remove USB hardware and once it is done, disconnect camera) -so I'm not recommending anyone do what I do and if they do, they do so at entirely their own risk. :dude:

Do yourself a favour and get a usb card reader. I have a PCI usb2 card reader and it works well

Shame the camera has played up so soon...mine is ok so far
