I was searching for information on the Kyocera Japanese website when I came across product information concerning the
Finecam M400R/M410R.

There is a possibility that after 10-minutes of continued use it can cause the 'Liquid crystal display' to lose colour and turn purple.

It can affect cameras with the following body numbers:-

Finecam M400R: DM001000 - DM014000
Finecam M410R: DMB07000 - DMB32000

My cameras body number falls within the above mentioned body numbers, I am now running the camera continuously for more than 10-minutes to see whether the LCD changes to purple!

Furthermore information can be found here:-

?lp=ja_en&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.kyocera.co.jp%2fprd ct%2fop
tical%2fcamerabody%2fm400r_m410r%2fsupport%2findex .html

Has anyone experienced any problems so far?

Sorry the URL is so long you can use:-

Once at this website type in:-

http://www.kyocera.co.jp/

Under language select Japanese to English.

Thanks for the info Harryo. I seem to be in the clear as my serial number is DMB04---.

Hope the problem doesn't occur for you

Well this evening I purposely ran the camera continuously for an hour without any ill-effects!

The only thing was that the base of the camera became slightly warm, which is to be expected, the LCD was completely unfazed.

I am pleased that Kyocera had the sense to post this product information for the benefit of its customers, at least if anyone does at some stage have a problem with the LCD they know that it will be fixed.

Lovely... my model number falls into that range... Although I've run it for more than 10mins with the LCD and I've not noticed any purple features.

However, it does get a bit warm which according to the website, is a possible factor on causing the screen to go purple. I hope it's not a serious problem, but I've emailed Kyocera UK to see what their position is on this.

I never read manuals that aren't printed and alas, I don't have any papers right now for printing. Think I'll have to borrow some from uni...

I think leaving it on for 10mins solid is a bit excessive for me personally, the batteries won't forgive me anyway.

Thanks for the pointer/reassurance and should be getting the wide-angle lens today.

Stez, I had my camera running continuously for an hour without the LCD having any problems, I suppose that Kyocera in Japan are just being cautious.

I would not worry about the camera becoming warm all the digital cameras that I have owned all became warm after a period of use.

Would be interested to hear what Kyocera UK says in response to your email.
