I did a quick sketch to see how much further the hood would need to be extended (in theory!) to be fully effective for the 370mm focal length equivalent of full optical zoom.

My little 28mm long hood that on paper (and apparently in practice) only just misses vignetting at 37mm f.l. equivalent ........ would need to be ...... wait forit ........

170mm long! Save those toilet roll tubes folks!

Now this is very "rough and ready" and based using my 55mm hood whose threads start approx 5mm away from the plane of the front fascia of the lens. And I ain't no Einstein when it comes to maths! So take all this with a large pinch of salt (some lime and some Tequila too). Surely I have gone wrong (here?) somewhere?

I think some fun experiments will follow soon! Let's get at it Boys! ....(No Ian, not THAT!)

Cheers, KK

OK Tony ..... I designed it ....you make it ....50/50 on the profits.

Let me know if you get get rid of the inevitable "brewer's droop" effect, because of the weight of the front sections, using titanium or c.f. materials!

Before I get any Geeky rebuffs .....this is suppose to be tongue-in-cheek folks! But let me know if you make one!

Cheers KK

I think it might look a tad to big on the M410R! The toilet roll idea sounds easier :-)

I am no craftsman but i am a Cad technician and i can make cad drawings of anything you give me.....so i would need details as to how the parts slide out and how they are retained blah blah blah

They might have something at the Focus event maybe?
