Tony has done a good job here ....but I'm surprised that he has not yet mentioned the

thread!

Fora real quality but budget piece of glass ...... look at the old Yas Aux lenses. OK there is only one and that might not be as wide as you want to go ....... but it may open up other thoughts and sources for you!

Cheers, KK

THank you KK

The telephoto lenses seem quite expensive and may have to wait for now. The Dcr-720 might within my budget.

I did intend to post about the Yashica Aux Lens but the wife kicked me off the pc! G i got some lenses coming just like KK has and Iam has already got his....very cheap lens and th results are impressive for the lil money spent......i will check e bay for you....i would go for the DCR 720 if you can afford it....it really is a decent bit of equipment

My opinion is similar to your initial message ...... the wide-angle end is where the M410R and most (all?)other digital cameras fall short.

This is where I would go first .... the wide-angle end..... anything that needs greater than 370mm is starting to get intoa pretty specialist area ...and one might question the use of a point and shoot (albeit a very good one) for such areas.

Consider how much improvement ...if any ....would a telephoto attachment have any difference made to the shots in this thread

http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=19

Less light, more camera shake, harder panning, more edge distortion?

I have a Yashica Electro Aux Telephoto (1.3x) ... I'm unlikely to use it!

Cheers, KK

I had a look at this site and it seems interesting, but thiers a few problems

1-postage is for UK only

2-55mm you would need another adaptor

I think that you seem to suggest Tony that the raynox is better piece of equipment am I right? I am taking his hobby more seriously than I intented initially andI 'm ready to spend on somthing good if I 'm not being ripped off. The guy I buy things from over here generally keeps his prices comparable to those at Jessops. So I'll wait and see what he"ll have to offer.

That was just an example...there should be a few more on e bay in the USA that would post to Europe. I bought 1 cos it was cheap....not cos it looks good....it looks outdated compared to the raynox but it is a quality bit of equipment from what i have heard. A step up ring is required....i got a new step up ring...a tele and a wide angle lens all for 15 quid.....thats what i mean by cheap!

However if i was in your shoes and had the money to hand i would buy the DCR720. Like i said the 6600PRO has a wider angle of view then the 720 and less distortion but a lot of people complain it has a soft centre and edges at times.....720 is almost a third of the price so get one in at the local dealer and try it out.

Post results on here and a pic with it on the camera if you can
