I've just seen the info that polariod has actually released the x530 foveon sensor, up on the What camera should I buy post.

Why if this chip is so good has nobody else using it apart from sigma?, although I have read poor reviews of there cameras.

There could be a number of reasons for that....i did not even know Sigma made cameras....certainly not a brand to use if you want your product noticed
