Can anyone give a definitive reason why Kyocera are stillbringing outbrand new cameras way after they announced to a very disappointed and generally loyal customer base that they were not going to make any more! Does anyone have an inside line to their remarkable "shoot myself in the foot" Marketing strategy?

I count 4 Yashica digital camera models (EZ Digital 2010, 3010, 4030 and 4033) brought out in late 2004 (after their announcement to play dead!), 3 Yashica digital camera models (EZ Digital 3011, 5030 and A-5010) brought out in 2005 and 3 more Yashica digital camera models (Ky303, KYV-3000 and Memories!) brought out by their Brazilian branch, again, very recently in 2005!

And why only allow them to be sold in very few countries ..... Australasia, Italy and Czech markets for the EZ Digitals and South America for the Brazilian models?

Apart from a few details on a few retailer websites there appears to be no information anywhere about the EZ Digital cameras on any official Kyocera website ....its almost like they don't want the world to know they exist. Why this is, is a real mystery and must go down as the most undercover marketing ploy in history!

In contrast .... at least the Brazilian website seem to be open about their models. (I admire the Brazilian website, in general)

Just what the HECK (I thought I'd type HECK rather than watch the autosubstitution censor what I really wanted to put!) are Kyocera up to? Are they likely to capture any new customers with this strategy?

Anyone?

Cheers, Kyocera Kid.

well, I really know no information specific to the marketing, etc. But I do know is that a product development pipeline is longer than one year. So the models you are seeing come out now have been in develpment and production for quite some time. I guess they figured not to take a total loss and scap all the development time and push out whatever they had left in their development cycle at the time.

OK .... that makes sense ....but why only for sale in a few countries and why no info on their websites?

The plot thickens! I discovered yet another new Yashica EZ Digital - the 3012..... on an Italian website.... then I thought .... that looks familiar!

Onlyweeks ago I found out about the 3 new Brazilian Digitals ....so their images were still fresh in my mind.

Now! ... Is the 3012 made in Brazil or the Ky303 made in Japan ....or are all of them made in China?

It is surprising thing why are not they mentioning in their official website. ez4030 is also awailable in Pakistan. But they did not mentioned manufacturing country.
