About a month ago we were in bed when a storm hit, It was really loud and we had power blackouts. I stumbled through the house to the back porch and got these. They were shot in auto and hand held with the G3, not the best way to shoot lightening and my first effort, note the last photo and how close the lightening was, the back yard appeared day light:shock:

Yes you could say I was a little nervous, the house shook and the dog freaked out. It passed over our home and hit a metal shed about 80 metres to the front of our place. It also started fires in the area as the summer was just over and everything here was dry.

Nice shots, my wife would have been under the bed instead of taking photos. :-)

They do look fake & even so they look brillant.
I think, if I had taken that last shot, there would have definitely been more camera shake, right down to my knees. It proves one thing though. You are as stupid as me, I would have been clicking away too. :-D |

These really are for real. I have just remembered that The camera was hand held, set on auto and on rapid shoot. Guess it shows that I was not prepared at all, These shots could have been great if I had set it up right. The local photographer in town got a great shot taken from the other side of town across our harbour, but there is no way I'd have stood out in the open to shoot a photo the way he did:-)

Maybe next time, you could shoot from a bunker & ask him to fly your kite (with the steel cable).
Congrats on some good pics & we all wait for the next ones, kite or no kite. |
