Hi all,
For those of you living in midwest USA (or those who like to travel), I am considering a return to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore for a one-day photo shoot (possible camping too) over Memorial Day weekend. For camping a permit is required. Go here for more information: http://www.nps.gov/apis/ The specific island I would like to visit is about 45 min one-way by water taxi. Cost will probably be about $150/spread amongst up to six folks. Be advised there is no facilities on the island nor any fresh water so we would need to bring our own. That is the bad news. The good news is that you can bring a ton of stuff on the water taxi. You should be prepared for snow, rain, etc with proper gear. Mosquitoes minimal at this time of year. Possibility of sighting of eagles (thou regs require min distance from nests so bring telephoto or megazoom dig cam). There will be great opportunities for shore and interior photos. Embarkation point (town) is Bayfield, WI. So, go out to Mapquest.com for driving directions. If we just did a day trip, we could probably be on island about 8-10 hours before pickup. It is truly a magic place. Options could include a din together afterwards to compare photos, etc. I could bring laptop and burn CDs for all photogs will to share. Below are some pics from previous trips to the Apostle Islands. If interested, please respond on this thread. We can work out logistics via PM/email if there are enough takers. Hope to hear from some of you ![]() Digcamfan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sorry you cannot attend, Aladyforty!
But even a GREAT Lake in USA could not compare to the coast of Western Australia. Btw,two forum membersare considering it. (besides me). Still lotsa room on the boat! |
