This is the lighthouse at Heceta Head, just north of Florence, Oregon. It is said to be the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon coast.
Here is a link to more info on the lighthouse: http://www.nwcoast.com/lighthouses/o...hecetahead.asp |

Beautiful lighthouse. I really like the way the sea and sky are tonally so close, leaving almost no horizon line.

I can see why it's photgraphed so often - what a spectacular view. Your photo has definitely done it justice. No exif info is shown - how far (zoom) away were you?

Suzan, Suzeand Pierre,
Thanks for the compliments. The photo was taken from about 1 mile away. I used my Nikon D70 with the 70mm-300mm zoom set at 300mm. Exposure was 1/320s at f/11, ISO200. It was handheld with the camera resting on the windowsill of my car. I was stopped in traffic at a construction zone and could not get out to set up the tripod and only had a short time to take the shot after changing lenses. Bill |

Yeah, that's a lovely shot.
I have a bit of a thing for lighthouses. |
