Shot 3
I did get one with the tree tops, but the wide lens shows its distortion. Peter. |

Wonderful work, Peter! These are shots to be proud of. I think the exposure is right on.
Me, I was dreaming in blissful sleep at that time... which further proves that yet another person does better work before I get out of bed in the morning. :-) Good work. Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada http://tomoverton.myphotoalbum.com |

Actually being forgetfull helped out here, I was panicking trying to find the bill for the sigma 120-300 lens I just bought. Was already neatly filed away, never thought of looking in the binders where it should be :blah::blah::blah:
But I went out to search the car, and got an eye full :-) http://aurorachasers.com/ has been issuing waranings again today for my area, unfortuantely we are socked in. There was a class 5(extreme) geomangetic storm on the sun recently http://www.sec.noaa.gov/SWN/index.html Peter. |

Very impressive Peter. I especially like the third as the trees add some perspective as to the size of the aurora. :|

Looks like you guys got the epicenter of the storm. It wasn't quite that bright here in Calgary, but none-the-less impressive! Great job!

The third pic is gorgeous...
It gives the impression that the aurora is falling from space down to terra firma. ![]() |

Thanks :!: ,
actually the aurora was covering the entire sky horizon to horizon the edges were like the 3rd picture, and fairly static. Directly overhead was nonstop change, quie a show. I really needed a ultra-wide fish-eye for this one to get the whole thing in. The 19mm just did not see enough. Lot of light comming from it too, the trees recorded well by the light of the aurora, normally pitch black out there. Peter. |
