saw this white tree while out for a drive yesterday, as i took a few shots i noticed my shadow on the ground so stood against a tree to hide my shadow and the result is this

a very interesting composition! i like it... the only thing that might hav3e made it better would be to lose the overhanging branches above your subject... they're a little distracting, but more to the point, they reveal the source of the shadow in the foreground. otherwise, it almost looks like the shot was taken by the tree you were leaning on!! nicely done!

mm good point indeed

or ..... my take on it was that the shadows and the branches where like fingers reaching out to the dead tree..!

works either way i suppose.........ill remove the branches later and see what it looks like

actualy it could be very hard to remove them, just had a look and they interfear with background trees :-(, will look at my other shots...may have a better one

thanks

Gary

here it is without branches.........its a slightly different shot where removal was a bit easier

so with ? or without ?

Interesting sometimes how the original object becomes secondary.

This new image has a slightly spooky edge, as though the shadow were the ghost of the dead tree.

I like the first one. I like the effect of the shadow reaching out to the distant tree. That longer shadow really draws your eye to the far tree. And, IMO, I think the over hanging branches also point to the white tree. Everything in that photo is working to lead you to that tree. I like it very much. I don't get that feeling at all in the second version. It seems kind of flat and "Ho Hum" to me. Good work, Steve
