Called this one 'Skylight'.

That conifer is now starting to annoy me as it's right in the way of most of the pics from my home office window.

I took a few of these today but this was the best. One thing I find with both the 52 and 58 mm adapters and UV filters is bad internal reflection and flares. Mainly because the front ring of the actual camera lens is reflective (you know the bit that describes the lens) so it reflects the light back onto the filter at the right (wrong) angle. Just something for fellow S2 owners to note and look out for.

I also took my first moon pic tonight with the S2. It's todays image in my photoblog (http://davidlamarra.co.uk - i'll add this skylight one tomorrow).

Very striking. I don't think I've ever seen rays like that before.

thanks barbarian,

it's a technique I've used before. Camera set as wide an angle as I can (on the S2 that's 36mm - 35mm eq) and the smallest aperture (f/8), multi metering and in Av. I then try to catch the sun just right ie. as it peers over a cloud or round an object and that way I get the rays. I usually need to try a few different angles to get one just right and avoid flares.

cheers,

dave
