I shot these this morning in the meadow behind my home. A couple are the same shot with a different focal point treatment and the last two are cropped differently and made to look somewhat 'painted'.
![]() ![]() This next is the same as above but with the described effect on the focal area: ![]() My "Painterly" shots (same with diff. crop): ![]() ![]() |

I really like the first 3 where the fog is thicker. The 3rd is my favorite but I think I would have cropped some of the dark off the bottom as it overwhelms the picture a bit.

Thx for the input Suzan.
The one you mention for cropping the 'dark' is the same as the one above it (without the dark). The difference was an attempt to highlight the central point of interest by introducing a darkening vignette effect around the perimeter. This works better in a scene with darker details at the top surrounding a center of interest - in this case, it makes it appear darker/vignetted only at the bottom and sides. Perhaps to better explain (tho' not a landscape shot)- these two Rhinoceros shots. The first is the original/normal. The second was enhanced in PS to add saturation, glow and highlight to attract attention to the horn area of the face and give a different appearance. It was less effective with the tree/fog photo. I'm always experimenting with stuff like this and appreciate the input. Here are the two examples (I did this rather quickly in PS, just to give the example): ![]() ![]() |

Boy do I feel silly not noticing they were the same. Duh. I like the effect on 'horn boy'.
