i think the day was just not cooperating with you here man.. the light is very harsh leading to some harshhighlights and shadows..

also, you seem to be lacking in something to anchor your shot.. maybe if you would have picked out a nice log, or bush or something to place prominently in the foreground.. that way when we first look we have somewhere for our eyes to gravitate towards.. from there we could scan the rest of the scene and take it all in..
