Delos, I checked out the dpfwiw site for the IR info and did an IR remote control test on my C-8080WZ, as detailed at that site. Happily, the test came out with some very good results, so it seems like my camera will perform well for IR, at least with the Hoya RM72 filter that I just ordered.
However, I noticed that you are using an 87 filter which passes IR at a higher wavelength and requires something like 2 stops extra exposure as compared to the RM72. Have you ever experimented with an RM72 filter before, and do you have some examples you could post? |

I've never tried the RM72, but there are tons of photos taken with it posted on dpreview (http://www.dpreview.com) . Just do a search for infrared in the Sony, Canon and/or Nikon forums. The images taken with that filter seem to let some of the ambient color through. Really nice images. I chose the #87 solely with cost in mind. The Hoya filter was substantially more expensive in the 77 mm thread than the Tiffen.
While you are browsing the dpreview site, take a look at the instructions for reversing the red and blue portions of the image. This makes a significant difference in NIR photography. Have fun and be sure to let us see the results. |

Sorry, I'm on vacation and am not going on line on a regular basis.
To copy and image: 1. Ctrl-A 2. Ctrl-C To paste over the background image: Ctrl-V Hope that helps. |
