My family and I just did a 12 day trip in and around Calgary, Alberta.
Near the Columbia Ice Fields Approx. 3800 meters...our local mountains in Vancouver, BC are a mere 1000 meters in comparison ![]() http://www.juetts.com/photos/mountain-view.jpg Here is what is called a HooDoo, there are very few (maybe a dozen or so) left just outside of a place call Drumheller, Alberta (one of THE best dinosaur museums in the world). These HooDoos are about 15 feet tall. http://www.juetts.com/photos/HooDoo.jpg Calgary's Saddle Dome Stadium as taken from the Calgary Tower: http://www.juetts.com/photos/CalgarySaddleDome.jpg Not sure if some of you are aware but BC and parts of Alberta, Canada are having extremely bad fires. 800+ fires are burning is BC alone. Here is one mountain just outside of Banff, Alberta with scorch marks from a small fire. If the photo seems a bit smokey well, it was ![]() http://www.juetts.com/photos/scorched-earth.jpg The BadLands outsite of Drumheller: http://www.juetts.com/photos/Drumheller-BadLands.jpg Comments Welcome! -=- |

Great pictures from around and within my hometown of 23years. koruvs, I wish I was in your shoes. Even though I have lived in Calgary for 23years, since I was about 3years old I havent' even had the oppertunity to see the view from the Calgary Tower. Nice pictures all in all.
I plan to make a stop off in Jasper on my way out to Kelowna to visit and friend who lives there hopefully next week. I love the highway up to Jasper. It offers just way to much to see! ![]() |

Nice job!
Love the first one the best. The scorched land is sad. But it has brought BC together in helping those families who have had evacuated from the raging forest fires. Learnt today that Vancouver is now issuing many of the north shore trails closed due to extremely dry conditions. Btw one of the summits of golden ears is 1700m in elevation ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the comments everyone
![]() tkmckay, Currently we are in Vancouver and will move to Calgary this coming spring. Mainly because of the housing cost, a 450K home in Burnaby is 250K in Calgary, plus we can basically pick out a piece of land, hand the developer a set of custom floor plans and get exactly what we want ![]() Gimli, We saw smoke throughout our road trip, Banff, Kamloops, Chase, Revelstoke...even Calgary itself had a haze during the time we were there eg: the sun at 6:30pm was reddish from the haze the first night in town. -=- |
