About a month ago I got it into my head that I had to get up to Castle rock once more before I got too old to do the 2 hour return climb through the national park near my home. It is a steep climb up and takes a bit out of you if you are unfit, once you get to the rock you then have to scramble up a two metre bolder and then walk down through a crevasse, crawl under a gap that makes one feel very claustrophobic to get to the ladder up. Happy to say I did this for the views which are stunning on the right day, the rock was in full cloud when I first reached it but it cleared enough to get these shots.

Looking down into the gap one has to crawl through

These photos don't really give an Idea of the height of this rock, It's about 800 feet from ground level, about 1000 feet from sea level

The lookout which faces toward my home town, below this is mostly national park and farms

Heres a view from the half way level

looking down the rock from the lookout
