This is the alleged beach where Burt Lancasater and Deborah Kerr kissed in "From Here to Eternity". It's a really cosy beach on the way around the island headed east near Sandy Beach.

Gorgeous, Selvin
![]() Your contributions from Hawaii are consistently spectacular! With your digital camera, you have "painted" many, beautiful Hawaiian "moments" for the rest of us stateside and overseas ![]() As an aside... Selvin, have you ever considered hosting a few dozen of the forum members for the first annual Hawaii Photo Shoot with Selvin...say, January, 2004? ![]() |

Digicam, NHL, Melanie,
Thanks for you comments. Digicam, it's funny you should ask about hosting things here in Hawaii. I have in the past suggested to various professional organizations that I belong to, to have their meetings once in a while in Hawaii. The unfortunate response I get is that such a venue would be considered as all fun and no work. However, there doesn't seem to be much reluctance to host them in Las Vegas. Go figure! Don't give up, maybe.... meanwhile, Aloha |

The cotton water pics are nice to look at, but this one really captures the actual moment. I like this a lot.

Hi Selvin...
Interesting comment about your efforts to bring a conference to Hawaii. To paraphrase a Joni Mitchell classic... It seems as if... "They passed paradise...settled for a parking lot." A similar thing happened with a former company at which I was employed...They held a conference at Summit County, CO (~10,000 feet). I strived to attend but was not successful. The chief comment from attendees who had the privelege to to be there was.... "(A grunt of dismissiveness) followed by..."I couldn't get my breath. We will NEVER go back there again!" Vision...it seems it is all about "vision". Some have "it"...some do not. Mahalo, Selvin, for sharing your "home" on this forum. ![]() |

Yes I have seen that beach several times and your picture of it is very nice. We have been to Hawaii 4 times and we are going again this year. We stay at the Hilton on waikiki (?),but we travel all over the island . Can you get us some pictures of the "North" side...the pipe line? Every time we are there, the waves are big,but not huge as they can get. Love Hawaii and the people !!

Folks, thanks for your kind comments.
Tracy, It's funny, you wishing to make it to Hawaii and my wife and I wishing to make it to Ontario.... Frank, I once offered a friend of mine from Michigan department of Education, a small consulting contract to come to Hawaii to help us with our student testing program and he said they immediately wanted to see his travel budget for the last few years and how many trips he had taken out of state. Small minds. Kanji, There a few areas on Oahu I have almost no shots of and the North Shore waves are one of them. One of the main reason is the enormous influx of visitors to the area. Way too many people, cars etc. Unless you are into surfing it is a challenge. I keep promising myself, that I should brave the crowds and get some good shots. One day... Mahalo. |
