It was about 1000 feet. There are several bushes in the picture that are about 6 feet in diameter. They are slightly green and have a shadow from the early morning sun.

I would like to see a photo of the lake bed close up to compare.
I would also like to see a photo of your powered parachute. What is a powered parachute? |

![]() ![]() style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Chuck, style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Here's a pic of my friend Harv in his powered parachute flying over a different dry lake. Sorry I don't have a photo of the dry lake with the patterns taken from the ground. I do have a few different angles from the air though. Q |

So, does this powered parachute combo give you the ability to land safely if your engine stops or if your parachute fails? I suppose it would be a hard landing if it wasn't a powered landing, but safe nevertheless...

Geoffs,
We regularly fly up several thousand feet and turn off the engine. You can steer normally without the engine, and with a little practice you can land smoothly without power. The parachutes just don't fail but I suppose it's possible if you flew into a thunderstorm or something. Flying a powered parachute is very safe and relaxing. Since you steer with your feet, your hands are free for photography. Nothing to block your view. Q |

Great shot. Very interesting patterns. It's a view of Bend that I haven't experienced before.

If you rotate the picture 180 degrees, the pattern makes much more sense as a dry river delta. The light and shadows can play tricks on your eyes.
