Selvin! The first one is fine. The other one...well
why not read about NIGHTSHOTS on my website. You obvious have a great location for nightshots. You will be able to do much better than the second one - go to my website and read the article "Photos of the night". Just a friendly advice. |

My thought when I saw them was... I wonder if you could do something with PS where you blended the two together. I don't know how it would come out (and I certainly don't have the PS skills to do it well) but it came to mind.
It's a pity you didn't get a more colorful sunset, but it doesn't always work out that way. Eric |

Klaus,
Read your piece on night shots. Thank you. You weren't arrogant. Incidentally, you might have preferred the companion to the second shot, which is shown below. ![]() Eric, Your point is an interesting one about blending the two together. In fact I deliberately tried to take both shots from about the same angle etc. in case I wanted to do something weird later. This was done without a tripod by the way with the camera perched atop a railing 19 stories up. the things we do to get interesting shots. Aloha |

You might also use spotmetering and find some middletones in the shot. Then try again. But it seems to me that your shutterspeed is much too fast. You need a longer one.

Klaus,
Your point on the shutter speed is probably correct since the second photo was taken at 1/15 sec and F3.0. Should probably have pushed the aperture to f8.0 and then slowed down the shutter speed appropriately. Oh well, now that I'm back in Hawaii I'll wait until my next trip to San Antonio and also remember to carry a tripod since I didn't have one on this last trip. Balancing a camera on a railing is hardly the way to go even for 1/15 second. Thanks much for your advice. Aloha |

Right Selvin, and remember to check your digicam for "noise reduction or pixelmapping".
