The nightinggale, it said to me....
![]() This is the University where I study. I liked the colors. Could I change something? This is straight from camera except some sharpening after resize and a very slight curve modification. |

I brought out the fall colors. Yours is fine and almost certainly looks more like the real scene. It also looks more natural, I couldn’t help but play with it anyway.

First I “defogged” using an amount of 16 and a radius of 180 in unsharp mask. I just rouinely do that with most images as it makes them crisper. It doesn’t really sharpen it and it isn’t necessary to do it last. It had less effect on your shot than most of mine because you use a DLSR and I use a D7i. Defogging is almost a must with a prosumer but it doesn’t do a lot for a DLSR shot because they are crisper to start with. It brightened it a little though.
Then I went to Selective Color. Most of the color came from manipulating the red channel by radically reducing the cyan and moderately boosting the magenta. I also increased the black some in the red channel. It was about –96 on the cyan, +40 on the magenta and +18 on the black. I tweaked some of the other colors but not very much and I don’t remember exactly which and how much. The main effect comes from the red channel though. All this was with Photoshop 7 but I imagine you could do it with any good image editor. I wasn’t hinting that your original shot is lacking in any way. I was just fooling around with it. |

Looks great to me. Those DSLRs really produce crisp images.
