The difficulty is finding a spot that is far away enough to see the antenna tower, but still see the whole base. I haven't found anywhere in Manhattan, and this is as close as I got to that:

very nice walter, the last time I was at the Empire State Bldg was in April 1971. NYC was a wonderful place to visit with so many things to do.

Great shot! Funny how most people think of panorama in horizontal and not verticle. Thanks for the reminder...

Thanks, all, for the kind words. Panonissimo? Wow!
By the way, this was stitched with Photoshop Elements v2.0 Photomerge, which is a very elegant stitcher. It will do a very good job automatically and lets you microadjust the images, all in no time. All of my other (many) pano programs had difficulty with this sequence because it was handheld and not aligned very well. This program did fine on it. I use the full version of Photoshop7, but I put Elements v.2 on the harddrive just for the pano tool. Camera was the Canon D60, with the 28-135 IS at 28mm. |

Very, very nice photo.
Interesting point: did you know that the pole on top was actually designed for mooring air ships? I'm not sure how they expected the passengers to get down though, I can't see many of them wanting to climb down a little ladder that high up! |
