That's good for a first try, i bet you're pleased with that. Pity the tree crept in a bit though. I'll have to wait till November to have a go at that. :-)

We planned on going to the fireworks on Saturday but didn't get out the door until 45 minutes before they would start. The town that was putting on the show was a good 20 minutes away and we did not even know where they were going to be displayed. Got there, found a bunch of cars and found a parking spot just as the first one was shot off. I got setup very quickly and composed the shots and started to learn what made a good fireworks picture. This was as close as I think we could have gotten to them before the police would have wrestled us to the ground.

that is beautiful...you might have wanted to back up a little more( more wide angle, no zoom) so that you have the full firework in it...

The EXIF shows the focal at 18mm thats as wide as the digital rebel kit lens gets
