Id like to see the original before you monkeyed with it. Your vignettes dont seem to be balanced. Here the right side and top right seem heavier than the opposite side throwing the harmony of it off. The black border doesnt do anything. I dont know why your color is so flat. It doesnt look natural at all.

Here is the original pic.

The look that I was going for was a flat, desaturated color. If you watch any newer WW II movies (Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, etc..) This is the look that they are filming them in.

I am a total newbie when it comes to vignettes so I am sure I could use some more pactice to get them right.

Since I am a diehard romantic, I see something else in this picture, which has its merits......I think......?!

Hope you don't mind my edit of your picture, tikamidnight.

...Very clumsily pp'ed in 5 minutes. But the picture has potential!
:)

I like both of your versions of my pic as well as my own. There seems to be a number of ways I could go with this pic.

Tika, if you are ever looking for a job, give some thought to being a diplomat. You diplomat very well.

Pretty close to what I do for a living. haha.

As a newbie to both photography and this site, I love hearing other peoples thoughts on my pictures. It is already having an effect on my photo work. It is making me think in directions I would never have gone before.

I like all three versions of this shot - it's a good example of what can be made out of a photo, depending on the mood and preference (?) of the photographer and the one who looks at a pic.
