This was taken using nikon 950 in midyear 2004, at the Great Sand Dunes, in Colorado. There was something in the air...most likely sand particles etc, that made the dunes look a bit hazy from a distance. It would have been nice to have clear conditions that day. The next picture with the ominous clouds was taken on the previous day.
These pictures were processed with colour balance edits, and sharpening used. |

Hey, Kenny...great landscape.
I did try tweaking a bit in PSP7 to bring out the blue. If you would like me to post the pic, please PM me. (I don't want to "intrude" on your thread otherwise...) :-) |

Is it true that you guys have like 300 inches of snow out there in Colorado?

No no ... not in Colorado I think Wisonsingirl. You might be thinking of Utah...like places around Salt Lake City etc etc. But the mountains in Colorado do get a fair bit of snow....but probably not anywhere near 300 inch base layer I think.

Sorry...I thought I heard Colorado. That is just an insane amount of snow.
Great pix by the way! I've always wanted to see sand dunes in person...someday!! |

When you do go to see the sand dunes later Wisconsingirl, choose a really nice day to head out to there...I'm sure you'll be taking lots of awesome pics there. Actually...it's a good idea to be there for either sunrise, or sunset, or both. The mountains in the background kind of retain snow on the peaks!
