Very nice. I did capture a nice cloud to ground strike myself, but it's partially obscured by a telephone pole. What luck?
I agree with what you said for method. When the sky was active, I shot pretty much continuously until the card filled up, then I'd go in the house, unload the card and start again. I've thought of stitching the dudstogether in Quicktime because they make for some cool cloud motion when viewed one after the other. Oh, those pictures have been resized for posting, but otherwise are straight out of the camera. No photoshopping at all. |

If your really into capture lightining, they have this thing called a Lightning Trigger or something to that extent. When the flash of lightning happens, it triggers your camera to go off. Its a couple hundred dollars though I think... Otherwise, nice shots and you saved money as well ... :?

Would that work with the significant shutter lag that digital cameras have?

Thanks for the tip, but too rich for my blood.
Here's the link in case anyone else is interested. http://www.lightningtrigger.com/ (there is a list of compatible cameras on the site) |

I know this is a really old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. Here's one that I got tonight. I promise, no compositing or other photoshop foolishness other than the obvious crop/boarder/text stuff and some minor color & contrast tweaks. I was pretty happy with this one.
