Like the image, what are those piles of stuff on the right side? Driftwood?

ohenry Sep 6, 2004 4:17 PM

Yes, it's driftwood. This is the Oregon coast north of Bandon, OR.

Greetings;

I'll be specific; (I've sent too many "nice shot" notes lately.) I like how the mist in the background obscures the image. Because we can't see it, we have to use our inner eye to fill in the details.

Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada

P.S. Nice shot.

Thanks. I hadn't given much thought to the background mist, but it's an interesting observation.

I tried a couple of different crops of this one, but eventually went with the wider expanse to capture the feeling of solitude. I think it worked...at least it did to me.

This one really works, Ohenry :)

I concur that the mist is a plus.

Also, for those forum members who have been to the Oregon Coast, it is not uncommon to have fog or rain then "move" a mile or so south or north and find sunshine.

Your photo conveys a sense that the sunshine is transitory and so your subject seems to be enjoying a few rays while she can :)
